OPEN GOVERNANCE

Trust without
the fine print.

The directory belongs to the community. Its policies are public, its decisions belong to people, and reputation cannot be purchased.

No algorithm.

No personalized feed, engagement-based ranking or invisible promotion.

No ads.

No sponsorships, paid placement, promotional boosts or preferred search results.

No tracking.

No behavioral profiles, advertising pixels, visitor targeting or sale of browsing data.

Not pay to play. Ever.

Businesses cannot buy placement, voting outcomes, better positions or removal of objections. Proposing a business is free.

Anyone eligible can propose a business, including someone associated with it. Owners, employees, agents, close family members, proposers and anyone with a material interest cannot supply its three independent Yes votes.

Operated by volunteers. Paid for by Lemacks Media.

Corner of X's review and moderation team is volunteer-run. Lemacks Media pays for the platform's development, hosting and operating costs. Volunteers do not earn commissions from approvals, and the platform does not sell editorial influence.

Funding does not give Lemacks Media a special approval path. Reviewers with a financial, employment or other material connection to Lemacks Media recuse themselves from any decision involving Lemacks Media.

Three people put their names behind an approval.

Members submit proposals. Staff approves the saved draft for community voting and publishes it as pending. Approval then requires three eligible independent Yes vouches, with zero unresolved objections. Updating a listing does not discard the votes; its public changelog shows what changed and who made the change. A proposer or reviewer with a conflict cannot count toward the three-person quorum.

Approved entries display the accounts that vouched for them. Consumer ratings and reviews are independent of the approval quorum and never substitute for a volunteer's vetting decision.

Who can nominate and who can vouch?

Anyone can recommend a business, including its customers, suppliers, employees or owners. A nomination is not a vote or an endorsement by Corner of X. We welcome recommendations from across X, but an X reply saying “I endorse this business” does not count toward our review.

Only our authorized, independent volunteer team can cast one of the three qualifying vouches. This separation prevents popular accounts, coordinated promotions and self-endorsements from defeating the purpose of the directory. You can meet our volunteers and find their public X profiles.

Administrator actions are labeled, never counted as vouches.

Coordinators may request corrections, place a safety hold or authorize a narrowly labeled administrative exception. These interventions are recorded with the account, reason, and relevant listing revision. An exception never counts toward the three-person community approval quorum and is never described as a volunteer endorsement.

An administrator exception expires when the listing content or official images change. A safety hold continues until explicitly removed. Profiles visible through an administrative exception remain excluded from search engine indexing and the public sitemap.

Business designations require a separate, accountable review.

Additional designations such as Veteran-owned or American-made products are never inferred from an X profile or purchased. They require documented eligibility and a separate review. A reviewer may supply public evidence or explicitly attest that they personally reviewed the claim or know it firsthand and accept responsibility for unavailable supporting information. Administrators record the review method, their account, time and acknowledgements. Public labels distinguish an administrative attestation from an independent evidence review. Product-origin claims apply only to the products named in the review; they do not cover an entire catalogue by default.

American-exclusive remains a proposed designation until its requirements are defined. Unvetted businesses do not display earned badges. Manual designation review does not publish a listing or count toward its three independent vouches.

Unvetted is visible. Approved is earned.

Unvetted entries remain available as references within Corner of X, but are excluded from search indexing. Their presence does not imply a recommendation. Approval is the point at which a listing becomes eligible for full public-directory prominence.

Corrected information is subject to the same independent standards. Businesses may request factual corrections without controlling the community's verdict or removing legitimate criticism.

Identity belongs to the member, not a username.

A Corner of X member retains the same platform identity when a linked X account is renamed, suspended or replaced. X profiles are public points of reference, not a substitute for the member's identity record. We never ask for a member's X password or permission to operate their account.

Invited contributors can add or replace their own X handle. Handles are member-provided and are not independently verified by the platform. Directory vouches remain tied to permanent Corner accounts, including a record of the handle displayed at the time of each decision.

Privacy is the operating model.

We do not sell visitor information, follow people around the web, or profile searches to manipulate the directory. Browsing, filtering and reading listings do not create an advertising profile.

Security logs, member authentication records, email delivery information and moderation audit records serve specific operational purposes. They are not used to sell advertising, track browsing behavior or personalize rankings. Access is limited to the work needed to operate the platform.

Future giveaways don't build contact lists.

Our planned giveaway tools collect only the information needed to run each giveaway, confirm eligibility and deliver prizes. When the giveaway is complete, entrant data is destroyed. It is never rolled into an audience database, mailing list or future campaign.

Giveaway tools remain on the roadmap; they are not open for entries today. Non-personal draw-integrity records will establish that selection was fair without retaining participants' private data.
